Re: 93 850 GLT Attempted forced entry, question about starting

Was it ever an option on the 850 ?
Since the original owner paid for paint and leather, maybe they paid for the key as well ??
What will really suprise you is its not only a base model, but it has the 10v 5252 motor.
It didn't even have the rear sway bar until I fitted one :D

Oh, and it's a wagon ...

Re: 93 850 GLT Attempted forced entry, question about starting

Sorry I'm just saying that Erik believes my car doesn't have an ignition key rfid system, while I believe it does.

The only real fault I've had with the car was when it decided to start slamming in and out of gear (auto).
The ignition wafer was worn out and dropping power to the gearbox ecu ...

... I'm basing the below comments on my base model '96.

If they use a slide hammer to remove the ignition barrel, and try turning the ignition wafer with a screwdriver, again useless due to the factory immobiliser that requires a signal from the rfid chip in the key head.

Pft.
Not even an amateur attempt.

I'm basing the below comments on my base model '96.

When locked the snipper button sits flush with the door trim.
So trying to snag and lift that won't work.
The doors have various internal measures to prevent 'slim jim' attacks.

If they did gain entry,
A brute ...

Re: All instruments gone, then back

I had a similar issue.
It was a wiring connector under the dash that plugged into the under dash fuse/relay box.
When you have a look at the plug you will question just how on earth it can come loose. :)

Re: Volvo 850 brake shudder/noise

Sorry I don't know the part numbers, but as a cheap fix if you have the full shim, why not just 'trim' them to suit ?
For what it's worth my '96 850 has half shims.
No idea if they were there from manufacture, but they were there when I bought the car second hand.

Try the usual suspects.

Re: Broken power connector for 1996 Volvo 850 ABS Control Module

Hope this helps.

I had to rebuild my abs module.
Been dreading that as the pump wires insulation was perished to begin with.

1.jpg

Removed the abs module and what was left of the insulation disintegrated.

2.jpg

Pulled the pump cap off so I could re-sleeve the wires best I could.
Cleaned the ...

Re: 1999 S70 Immobilizer stopping car after starting

I had an issue with my 850 for the last 6 months.
I thought it was a fuel issue that started after I replaced the fuel filter.
The car would either start then stall within a second, or wouldn't start at all.
But, it would always start within 3 attempts.

I replaced the fuel pump and return line on ...

What he above said...........
Another way to part a fool and his money.

Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1%.
