Transmission service required '07 XC70

Recently acquired an "07 XC70 with 143,000 miles. I've got the message Transmission service required on the message board. When I scan the Transmission control module I get 001F Vehicle speed sensor(VSS), Signal missing. Question: where is the VSS that feeds info to the TCM located?
Any other ...

Re: monitors won't reset

Success! Took it in to the garage and explained the whole EPA study/ exemption list etc. They said it won't pass if the monitors aren't ready. Plug it in anyway I'll take the $21 gamble, Passed inspection, mechanics amazed.

Re: Oil in coolant, sludge in coolant res. moist exhaust.

I had similar problem with my S70. Needed new radiator. The oil cooler had cracked internally, oil passed into the cooling system within the radiator. Is your 850 a turbocharged model? I believe Turbo models have oil coolers integrated into the radiator on the passenger side. Normally aspirated ...

Re: monitors won't reset

The drained battery was a few weeks ago, it's had a few long trips and a lot of local driving. I didn't think to check the mileage so I'm not sure the distance driven. My son drives this car so I'm not exactly sure of the nature of the driving. I'll check with the inspection station about the ...

Re: monitors won't reset

Never touched the ECU. The battery got completely drained recently, wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Re: monitors won't reset

I guess the proper term would be ready. The mechanic expected to see some of the monitors ready considering the amount of driving that had been done since I cleared the codes with my hand held scanner. My scanner simply shows readiness complete Y or N, the mechanic's scanner gave read outs of all ...

monitors won't reset

I have a '96 850 na that will not reset any monitors. I cleared a trouble code that I caused by unplugging the MAF while the engine was running. Since then the car has been driven for almost 2 weeks around town and 2 highway trips. Took it to my local garage and not a single monitor has reset. No ...

Re: Snap-On Crescent wrench - Best Tool?!

The Crescent tool company was founded in 1907 in my hometown of Jamestown, NY. The term "Crescent wrench" refers to the classic adjustable wrench which they invented. In the 60s and 70s our neighbor worked there and often gave my father perfectly good tools that were rejected during inspection for ...

So since I have eliminated that possibility by switching the module with another car with no change to either car, I am beginning to think that I need a new pump.

Re: 1998 S70 T5 ABS relay location?

Thanks CN90 I had read through that thread before. In it is mentioned a relay and the control module. I have experience with the control module and don't believe that to be the problem, but I don't know what is being referred to when it mentions replacing the relay.
