Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
Ok, I know it has been awhile since the problems with my volvo, but I finally took the head off and discovered it was a burned exhaust valve on the no. 2 cylinder causing my misfire. There was a little chip missing on the valve. IMG_7777.JPG I debated on whether to get my head rebuilt or just get a ...

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
I will start taking the head off the volvo tomorrow, and I will post back to let you guys know what the result is and follow up on the thread. I think I am just going to get the head rebuilt anyway, instead of just doing the damaged valves(if this is the problem). I am going to give clearwater a try...

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
A few more questions...I am taking the car apart this week and I have done a few more compression tests(cylnder 2 is still reading 6~8 psi), leakdown test(sounds and feels like air is coming out tailpipe), paper at the tail pipe test(paper is being sucked in), vacuum gauge test(reads steady at 17mmH...

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
Hello, just wondering if anybody happens to know where the casting numbers on the cylinder head are on a 98 S70 GLT. Thanks for any help.

Re: new to the group.
I would recommend the euro haynes manual at least, if you don't have anything. You will probably have to get it off ebay. Others might have better suggestions. Thanks

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
Do you or does anyone else know where the casting # is for the head? Do I have to pull the cover off to see it? Thanks.

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
Would it be worth it just to put a reman or new head on, or a used engine in, instead of fool with the valve? If so, does anyone know of any good places to look for used engines or reman heads? Thanks for the replies.

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
It is driven 5 days a week on 50 mile trips each day at about 78 to 83 mph. So, it gets revved. Also, I always use 93 octane. Yes, the car burns a little oil. It lightly smokes a bit when it is first started. Thanks for the help.

Re: Misfire, no compression on cylinder No.2
One more thing. Will it make it any worse to drive the car around town? Thanks
