My 97 uses the same one as my 98 s90. IT is the bigger one with the buttons vertical. That's just how mine is don't know if they used any different system in the 97 than the 98.

That should go into the air box filter housing. There should be a hole in the box that the air dam will just pop into .

I don't know if it will help or not but my manual says to pull the top by the rear brace , which I think is shackle in your manual. My top gave out a long time ago . The latch mechanism may have just got pushed down try pulling it up .
