Re: 2000 v70XC, Engine shuts off while driving
I have located a view sources for fuel pump relays. Have you any experience ordering in the relays? Prices are ranging around $40. I guess it will be a process of elimination. $43.88 http://www.fcpgroton.com/product-exec/product_id/16629/nm/Volvo+V70+Fuel+Pump+Relay+(1998-2000)+ $39.10 http://www.pa...

Re: 2000 v70XC, Engine shuts off while driving
I appreciate the quick response. Since the original post I pulled the center console and tested to see if the gear shift sensor would cause the problem and it does not cause the engine to shut down if you depress the sensor while in the "D" position. So I was under the hood checking the fu...

2000 v70XC, Engine shuts off while driving
Over the last few days my v70XC engine will shut down while driving. It is very random, the engine is running fine, no misfires, cranks perfect but at a whim it will shut down. Once instance was at 65MPH, dash warning lights do not come on immediately. They do come on when the car is at a complete s...

Re: Replaced Ignition Coil, Cranked Fine, Now Will Not Fire
Even though it was the second thing I checked, the problem was a blown fuse, (#4Ignition coil / fuel pump). My old age must be getting to me. I had actually pulled each fuse out of that row and checked them. Not well enough! My poor vision did lead to me pulling the center console and repairing the ...

Re: Replaced Ignition Coil, Cranked Fine, Now Will Not Fire
The note referred to the covers that I replaced, (timing belt cover and spark plug covers). All plugs were replaced about 10 months ago.
Replaced coil, tested, OK
Replaced the two covers and engine will not fire.

Re: Replaced Ignition Coil, Cranked Fine, Now Will Not Fire
I did remove the cover and inspected all the wires. All looks good. I am pretty careful about the details. I can see how they could smashed or pinched.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Replaced Ignition Coil, Cranked Fine, Now Will Not Fire
I appreciate the replies. I checked the camshaft sensor as far as being plugged in, it was, I unplugged and plugged it back in. Same results, engine will turnover and not fire. I did notice this morning that I cannot move the shift lever from the "park" position. Could the engine not firin...

Replaced Ignition Coil, Cranked Fine, Now Will Not Fire Up
Recently my 2000,V70 XC has had a little "hiccup" while at stop signs, traffic lights, or backing up. This was very random. I had the codes read and came back with cylinder 1 miss fire. Replaced the ignition coil, (very simple job) and while the plastic covers were still off I tested the w...

Re: ALternator, regulator, or battery
Update on the repair. I had the alternator checked and it was bad. I choose to go to an Alternator / generator repair shop. They tested and replaced with a new alternator. Very honest shop. $165 for a rebuilt, $85.00 for the install. The car performs much better than it has in the past. Of course th...
