thanks but unfortunately I'm no expert either. And when I asked a service guy at the dealer he was worse he said the rear axle might not move at all!

My mechanic does not want to pull the VC /drive shaft for fear of doing more damage. Do you guys have anything semi official I could show him to convince him otherwise?

SO here is a follow up. Nothing has been done. I did get a refurb drive shaft from Colorado drive shaft - thanks for the referral. However the dealer says the viscous coupler is on "national backorder". They have promised it for the past 7 business days even saturday but each day it doesn't show up ...

Before you give up on the central driveshaft and/or VC, check the front flexible coupling on the driveshaft. If what you hear is a metallic pinging coming from under the console area, that could be the problem. It can be replaced for $200-300 dollars. I replaced mine five years ago and it has been ...
