Fuel line check valve

I've seen this issue discussed a couple times before here and I've asked this on other forums without getting any help so I thought I'd try asking it here. I'm having the hard cold start issue (see https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80013) indicative of a failed fuel p...

2006 S40 Front wheel bearing replacement with Hub-Shark

I'm fairly certain my 2006 S40 (140k miles) needs a left front hub - loud humming noise that gets louder when I turn right - and I was wondering if anyone had tried using something like the Hub-Shark to do the job? Everything else I've read requires removing the unit from the car to press the hub ou...

Re: 2004 XC70 Cylinder 4 misfire comes and goes

Thank you for all the replies. I've been on vacation and away from the car so I could not thoroughly test it until now. I swapped the coil for cylinder 4 to cylinder 3 and now get a misfire code for that cylinder. Ordered a new Bosch coil to replace the bad one.

Re: 1998 V70 Died while driving - won't start, no spark

I went ahead and repaired my harness with electrical tape where the wire was still good and cutting and soldering where the wires had actually started to break, using marine heat-shrink tubing on those so they'd be water-tight. I went inch-by-inch along each wire, even removing the split plastic pro...

Re: 1998 V70 Died while driving - won't start, no spark

Sorry for the long delay in replying - busy at work and traveling so haven't had enough time to work on this lately. Looking at the wires themselves you can see other places where the insulation is wearing through so I think they look the way they do in the picture due to shorting after the chafing ...

2004 XC70 Cylinder 4 misfire comes and goes

A little over a week ago my 2004 XC70 (220,000 miles) started idling rough and stumbling upon acceleration. Initially there was no OBD-II code but it got progressively worse and eventually there was a P0304 code indicating a misfile in cylinder 4. I put new plugs in all cylinders (they hadn't been c...

Re: 1998 V70 Died while driving - won't start, no spark

Thanks. The harness is out of the car so I can definitely tape them and I'll check the rest of the wiring for this sort of problem. When I get it back in the car I'll try to figure out why exactly the insulation wore off and if it corresponds to one of the cable ties.

Re: 1998 V70 Died while driving - won't start, no spark

Pulled the wiring harness from the engine compartment and upon close inspection I found: V70 wire harness.jpg There are a couple of places where the insulation is worn through but this is the only place I actually see scorching as though it was shorting. I'm not sure, but this might be where one of ...

Re: 1998 V70 Engine compartment wiring harness removal?

Yes, the coil was changed and this has happened with both the old and the new coil. I didn't check for injector pulses - I don't have a scope but presumably the shop I took it to, where they checked 'everything' does and did check but I have no confirmation of that. We're not exactly on speaking ter...

Re: 1998 V70 Engine compartment wiring harness removal?

Thanks - I was able to finally see it and disconnect it for cleaning. It looks a bit corroded where the wires are crimped in the terminal but not overly bad. I'm in the process of pulling most of the wiring harness up from where it goes just above the crossmember so I can clean and inspect it. The p...
