s70 crankcase pressure
My 98 s70 GLT seems to push oil out of the valve train cover and also out of the oil fill cap when driven a little hard and yes smokes from the oil dip stick. I replaced the oil fill cap and oil trap, cleaned all the ports, replaced the hoses for the oil trap and PTC is clean. I guess I am looking a...

98 s70 SRS light question
I know I will probably end up at the dealer (45 miles away) but thought to look for anything obvious first regarding the SRS light staying on. Question one, does Volvo also incorporate the seatbelt system into the SRS monitoring? If I sit in the drivers seat and start the car without the seatbelt on...

Re: s70 timing belt one notch off question
Thanks, yes i know I was off by one notch on the belt. Now back to the PTC, I read the link but it still does not describe its function completely. The PTC pushes into the cold air intake line, it has a larger hose connected which goes to the oil trap the 2 wire heater connector and a vacuum line wh...

s70 turbo oil return line Oring help (figured it out)
The below problem was caused by me however I would have thought one of the old timers out there would have asked the correct question such as "you did hang the exhaust manifold didn't you" well no I didn't, I installed it on the head when the head was laying on it's side thus the manifold ...

Re: s70 timing belt one notch off question
Again thanks, one quick question on the PTC. Just trying to understand what it does. The PTC has a vac fitting that goes to the intake mani, a larger hose fitting that goes to the oil trap, a wire connector that connects to who knows where (is probably a feedback sensor) and the PTC port itself gets...

Re: s70 timing belt one notch off question
Many thanks,I thought the 1/4 grooves in piston heads looked factory. Made progress re-assembling it today, used my digital camera to image the crank and got it spot on. Installed the head, exhaust and intake mani and of course all the hoses and brackets and a gazillion bolts, I've found a Volvo goe...

Re: s70 timing belt one notch off question
Thanks, I was worried that I bent some valve after the engine ran rough for about 5 seconds but as said I was only off by one tooth. I did pull the head and the valves all look seated properly. Just to cover all the bases, the tops of the pistons look as though they have slight notches in them that ...

s70 timing belt one notch off question
I aligned the crank with one of the notched teeth to the mark on the engine block instead of the right way which is aligning to the valley between the two notched teeth. So would being off by half a tooth at the crank (with the cams aligned properly) cause the engine to run rough when started?

Re: S70 Bent valves or no bent valves ?
I t was more of a rumble when I started it not a death rattle, I heard no clunking or anything that sounded like metal to metal and as said after checking the valves are seated nice and the usual carbon buildup coating on the piston tops and valves is still in place and there appeared to be no conta...

S70 Bent valves or no bent valves ?
Long read I know but needed. I started my S70 for about 5 seconds after removing and replacing the timing belt and of course the cams moved so I removed the valve train cover so the cams would float freely and I then aligned the crank and cam gear timing marks to their perspective place between the ...
