Mine finally gave up the ghost last year. Cracked right below the upper hose fitting. Ended up going with OEM radiator. Would be a good time for you to replace all hoses and do a good cooling system flush .

Re: Breaks catch on rotor maybe please help
I see what your saying but do i need a new shoe or did it just fall away and need to be put back in place? I would hate to rip it apart and find out i need a new shoe or pad. Either way, you're going to have to take it apart to inspect the brake shoes/pads and repair /replace any damaged parts. Eddie

Re: Loss of Power while driving...
Check the fuses under the hood on the left side. On the inside of the cover is a layout of the fuses. your owners manual should tell you which one controls the radio. That fuse may also control the cig. lighter as well. You can still drive the car with the blown a/c hose. Just make sure when you dec...

Re: Preferred Tools for Volvo Maintenance Seeking Expert Adv
Thanks. The Harbor Freight 301 piece mechanic's set is very impressive. Looks like you get a lot for $150. I occasionally break stuff. I take it these tools are not warrantied. Is there a similar Sears set that contains the necessary tools? Do I need the SAE or am I being short sighted in thinking ...

Re: Preferred Tools for Volvo Maintenance Seeking Expert Adv
Lots of good information in the previous posts. As always this sight never ceases to amaze me at the amount of info concerning the care and maintenance for these cars. As far as tools go, most of the stuff I use is Craftsman. A good set of 1/4" and 3/8" drive metric sockets and a good set ...

Re: 96 850 Optima Battery replacment?
I would advise you not to buy an optima battery, the are no better than any store brand. the only reason they are still selling is because of the reputation that the early optimas built. What used to make the good is that they used virgin lead to make them. Now that optima has been bought out they ...

Re: Best Strategy for Removing Stripped Torx on Spk. Plug Co
One thing that has worked for me, is valve grinding compound. Spray penetrating oil on the seized bolt and let it soak in. Then take and put some valve grinding compound on the end of your torx bit (cover the entire end really good). A few blows with the hammer on the torx bit will help also. The va...

Re: Horrible, tooth shattering, grinding noise when braking
I have the same issue with my 1995 850. Although, I wouldn't consider what I'm experiencing tooth shattering, it is very annoying. First started noticing it late last summer. Took of wheels one at a time, inspected brakes and calipers, lubed everything good. With the onset of cooler temps in the fal...
