Re: Yet another 2001 V70 Transmission Question
I definitely have the stop-neutral. When I remove my foot from the brake there is a short delay of maybe 1 second and then I can feel the transmission engage. If I hit the gas before the transmission has engaged (like you want to do if you're looking for a quick getaway at junctions) then I get a bi...

Re: Yet another 2001 V70 Transmission Question
Well, I'm back from my local independent Volvo garage with no software updates applied. The garage ordered the TCM update (via their nominated Volvo main dealer as this it would seem is how some/all independents obtain genuine parts and software updates) and VIDA was all happy until an attempt was m...

Re: Yet another 2001 V70 Transmission Question
Hmmmm. The indie shop reckons that VIDA doesn't show any tranny software updates as being needed for my car. They did suggest that I could try the TCM update and the stop/neutral update (I assume the stop/neutral function would not be affected by the TCM update) but they wouldn't guarantee success b...

Re: Yet another 2001 V70 Transmission Question
Thanks for the advice guys. There is however a bit of a problem with the software update for the stop/neutral. I phoned the garage today to book the car in for the updates. They called me back to say that the TCM update has been ordered but when they tried to order the stop/neutral software update (...

Re: Yet another 2001 V70 Transmission Question
Indeed it is the 'killer' stop neutral. I wanted to know if anyone knows if the TCM and stop/neutral software updates I've listed will be accepted by my car if they are not listed on VIDA as being applicable to my car. I'm quite happy to pay the money if there's a good chance that these updates will...

Yet another 2001 V70 Transmission Question
Reading through the various threads in this forum regarding the fragility of the automatic transmissions on 2001 V70s (and I guess S80 etc.) I decided to take some preventative action on my 128,000 mile V70 as the transmission hadn't been touched in the 6 years I've owned the car. I had no particula...

Re: Central locking.
Did you ever sort out this problem? My 2001 V70 occasionally does the same thing with the front passenger door and has done so for the 6 years I've had it. It's an intermittent but annoying problem as I always need to do a visual check of the button for that door before leaving the car. Sometimes if...

2001 V70 - Reconnecting the battery
Hi everyone. I hope I'm not parading my stupidity too much with this question. Apologies if I am. Anyway, I've read in a couple of places on this forum that when reconnecting the battery negative (assuming that the positive hasn't been disconnected) then I should set the ignition swith to position I...

Re: no click on starter when trying to start 5 speed 850 wagon
Glad you got the problem fixed. I've had a similar problem on my 2001 V70 (auto). A couple of sharp taps on the starter motor got it going but the problem came back. I then paid £300 for my Volvo dealer to fit a new starter motor. A few months later the problem returned. Turned out to be the 12v spa...

Re: 2001 S80 T6 Siren Module Replacement/Repair - How To
Hi everyone (my first post on this forum :) ). I just received a siren kit (P/N 9499758)for my 2001 V70 as the installed unit has gone bad. Does anyone know why the kit includes a replacement bonnet catch (do you guys in the USA call it a hood catch)? From what I can see when I open the bonnet, ther...
