2001 V70 - Reconnecting the battery

Post by Cudrefin »

Hi everyone.

I hope I'm not parading my stupidity too much with this question. Apologies if I am.

Anyway, I've read in a couple of places on this forum that when reconnecting the battery negative (assuming that the positive hasn't been disconnected) then I should set the ignition swith to position II BEFORE connecting the negative.

Why is this?

I recently replaced the siren on my V70 and didn't do the ignition switch bit when reconnecting the batery. I haven't seen any ill effects so far but maybe I was just lucky.

Cheers ! :D
