after a few checks, it ended up being the MAF sensor. One of the electrical connections was loose on the fuel pump as well, but did not contribute to the problem, just gave me a headache after i put new sensor on and then the car would not start...

Way long update...
I drove the car for the last 3 years, and it never had any trouble whatsoever. i in fact delivered pizzas in it for over two years, logging well over 100,000 miles. Thanks for all the help guys, and thought you would like to know an old brick can run minus a bearing...

Im hoping i can get a few ideas. the car will start fine, idle fine, and if you very slowly increase the throttle, it will rev up fine. if you go just a little too fast on the throttle, it bogs down and stalls. it makes it impossible to drive. there are no vacuum leaks, and i have yet to do anything ...

I have a 91 240 that likes to hiccup every time i start from stop. It seems to just stall, and sometimes its enough to kill the motor. it usually just kinda sputters once and then its fine. it does it at idle, in gear, every time. Any suggestions?

Three months now and ive driven her hard and fast. Speeds up to 80, over mountain passes and about 6,000 miles. Still would never know shes missing a main bearing!

@zlo- check the spring seats. A once only clunk can be the spring shifting in its seat when moving in opposite direction or start from stop 1st time.

that was my theory, but wasnt sure if that was something that actually happens. Is it a leak in the fuel lines, or a leak in a pump?
