Re: 2001 V40 1.9T Replacing the head

I told you wrong on one of those post. We have not installed the Camshaft yet. He has the head on and bolted down.

We know that some volvos don't time TDC on #1 but we are not sure if this one does.

He wants to verify the postion of the crankshaft because the tool is not stopping at TDC on #1.

Re: 2001 V40 1.9T Replacing the head

I had the pistions set at TDC and when I put the tool in it still turned the pistons. It never did lock the cam. I will take pictures and post them. ( I am not where the car is right now) My friend is working on it for me. He has replaced plent of heads before but this one if different.

I have uploaded the parts that I had ordered to do this job. I am putting it in per the instructions that I was given. There is only 1 way it will go in.

Re: 2001 V40 1.9T timing the engine and cylinder head

I know where the timing mark is on pulleys. I am just having problems timing the camshaft. I bought a tool to lock the camshaft in place while timing it and It is not locking it with the cyclinder at TDC. ( I am not sure where they need to be set) I hope I am explianing this correctly.
