I know where the timing mark is on pulleys. I am just having problems timing the camshaft. I bought a tool to lock the camshaft in place while timing it and It is not locking it with the cyclinder at TDC. ( I am not sure where they need to be set) I hope I am explianing this correctly.

Locking the cams will not lock the crankshaft at TDC. You need a separate tool for that or rotate the crankshaft into position by hand.
