Re: Losing power steering

dan Having same problem re return ( to reservoir ) line loose at rack. I can't see any way to get to this fitting? Does it have an O ring seal between return pipe and rack ?? My isometric diag doesn't show a seal, only direct connection to rack. How did you get thread chaser, wrench etc in there and...

Re: '99 S-80 heater hose removal

Now have new Volvo OEM replacement heater hoses. Connector is very different from original. Do you just push it straight on as it appears to be spring loaded ie, only squeeze tabs for removal ??, turn or twist required ?? or squeeze tabs, push on and release tabs which will seal joint ?? This joint ...

Re: oil leak

I too would like to see a pic as I have an oil leak on 99, S80, T6. I understand you should NOT, NOT, NOT pressure or steam wash Volvo engines as very risky re water entry into sensitive electronic parts, etc. Is proper way to diagnose leaks by use of colored tracer in oil ??? What is name/ source o...

Re: S-80 Timing belt questions

I have attempted to get the BELT out. This is not the timing belt, but the serpentine belt. I swear that I've tried to force the replacement belt between the Harmonic balancer and a protruding bolt ( engine mount ?? ) prior to actually removing the bad belt just to see if there's enough clearance. I...

Re: S-80 Timing belt questions

Mine is 1999 S-80, T-6. There is a bolt protruding from the engine toward the backside of the balancer that is preventing me from removing the aux belt with the balancer on. I must remove the balancer to create enough clearance to remove the belt so therefore can't just release the belt tensioner pr...

Re: S-80 Timing belt questions

Assuming that just the serpentine belt is to be replaced, not the timing belt, do you have to remove the 30 MM nut/bolt or just the 4 bolts on the harmonic balancer.

Re: New Forum: Tools

I saw the PDF download, but it's for engine mount, not vibration damper. I do not have tool 951-2050. I can't even find any source for this tool. Where are they avail ?? How do you use it ?? Is it really needed for damper replacement ?? Don H

leaking transmission fluid-99 S80-T6

1999 S80 T6 turbo. 100,000 miles. transmission dipstick shows excess fluid. I may have put too much in. There is a "cold" level full mark and a "hot" level mark. I'm reading 1/2" to 3/4 " beyond the hot level mark even when measured cold. This would clearly indicate too...

Re: '00 S-80 heater hose removal

I'm about to replace heater hoses on '99 S80-T6. New hoses show a 90 deg plastic?? fitting at the firewall connection. It is attached to the hose with a hose clamp. What would be wrong with just removing the fitting and connect the new hose to the old fitting and leave the old fitting in place ?? Co...
