I'm curious about how this repair turned out. Did you get another estimate and how did you fix the problem. My 2012 C70 has given no serious problems (air cond. low pressure switch replaced) but an expensive top repair would make me want to sell the car.
So, what happened?

Re: Should I go from 2001 V70 to 2008+ V70?
Interesting question. I bought a 2001 V70 T5 with 99,000 miles on it and sold it 18 months later with 120,000 miles. It was an electrical nightmare! The alarm would blow for no reason, I had to spend $480 for 5 plugs and 5 coils, a bought 2 Electronic Throttle Modules, a knock sensor and an alternat...

Re: S80 2001 Auto Dimming Rearview Mirror Repair How To (lon
Well, it's done and it was easy thanks to this thread. The only trouble I had was that I couldn't detach the mirror from the windshield. My V70 is a 2008 and I tried the technique that works for the earlier models but I just couldn't get it lose....so I left it in place and removed the mirror bezel ...

OK, my problem is not leaking fluid but vertical dark streaks in the glass. It's a Magna Donnelly model # 026022. I just ordered the same model number on ebay and I'll transfer the glass from this mirror to the one in my 2008 V70. The local Volvo dealer advertises free software upgrades with service...

Re: Advice on '01 V70 T5
The 2001 Volvo s have been troublesome so do a lot of homework before you buy. This is the very best web site for info on '01s:

He has a list of serial numbers that pinpoint the troublesome Aisin-Warner Geartronic transmissions. Good luck!

Re: foamy power steering fluid
Thanks for all the feedback. I checked my fluid yesterday after a short run around town and it wasn't foamy so I might not have driven long enough for it to get hot. I don't drive this car every day so I need some time to experiment with your ideas. I guess the fluid needs to get hot before it will ...

foamy power steering fluid
The power steering on my '01 V70 T5 (101k miles) groans when I turn the steering wheel sharply. We checked the fluid and it was foamy and under a lot of pressure. My independent Volvo repair shop thinks I need a new steering rack but I don't understand how he can accurately make that diagnosis just ...

Re: grocery bag holder- '01 V70
Any body got a picture of what it should look like when snapped in? What are the belts for? They don't seem to do anything?...and the flaps won't stay vertical to hold up the lid. Maybe I'm just too stupid to use this gadget but on first look it seems like a poorly designed accessory to me. I bought...

grocery bag holder- '01 V70
I cannot figure out how to use the grocery bag holder in my '01 V70 T5. When I open the lid in the back of my wagon, two flaps (one on each side) flop down from the underside of the lid. They each have a belt with a metal buckle. The lid won't stay up because the cargo mat on top pushes it back down...
