I am a bit confused about the engine in my 1999 V70 Cross Country (XC)...

I have always referred to it as a 2.4 when asked for engine size in reference to parts, but checked w/dealer using VIN and he said it was a 2.5

I am pretty sure it's not the 2.3 because that was for the "R" series, right ...

I've got a 1999 V70 XC, and recently began experiencing misfire in cylinder 4.

Due to bad fuel in a recent fillup, I thought that might be prob, so I changed filter, treated fuel, to no avail.

Next, changed plugs, coil in 4, and checked injectors... no change in 4

I have a 99 V70 XC and I am dealing with a misfire in cylinder 4 as well...

I have changed the coil and plugs, with no improvement in the misfire...

I haven't checked for a stuck valve or the injector yet ...

I have a 99 XC (140k approx) that had a relatively new ETS module when I purchased from an individual in May (Was installed in Jan 10, now has under 10k on it).

Car had sluggish issues, but I purchased at a great price, so I thought I was ok...

My mechanic says the front suspension parts are very tight, so I am concentrating on the strut/shock area..

I am looking at replacing:

- Shock/strut
- Upper spring seat
- Shock mount bearing
- strut bump stop

Is this overkill or recommended?

I would love some recommendations for front shocks.. Factory Sachs or Biltsteins? Are there different part #'s for the V70 & the XC?

Also, I am wanting to fix the clunking going over bumps.. Will I need to install new upper spring seats? Shock ...

Ok, I hadn't thought of that! I was worried about the size, and never considered the tread. The 2 sets are similar, but not identical... I appreciate your response

Just bought a 99 xc, loving the car.. but here's the issue..

Noticed it has one brand of 205/65 15 on the front and 195/65 15s (of another brand) on the rear... both pair seem to have good tread

I am planning on a trip out of state this week, should I put new tires on?
