99 S80 T6 trying to find a good Volvo shop in D.C.

My niece just moved to the Washington D.C. Area from upstate NY where I've been taking care of her car. So we're looking for a reputable mechanic. Suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

122 TRUNK LID

Very solid, but a few small dents in spots where they could be easily worked out. A little surface rust is starting on the inside of the lower edge. No hardware - just the lid. Located in upstate/western NY. Make me an offer. I'll be happy to email pictures/answer questions. Thanks, Steve

'99 S80 T6 4T65-EV: ISO valve body gaskets

I've found a couple places online for a set of valve body gaskets to my '99 S80 for under ten bucks, but then they want $15 or so to mail them.
Somebody know of a cheaper source? Thanks, Steve

Re: 2005 v70 ticking

It's my understanding that the CVVT solenoid controls oil pressure acting on a spring to change the valve timing. If upper end oil pressure is insufficient, ticking can occur and proper valve timing cannot. Hence the fault code.

Re: S80 T6 Passenger side half axle leaking oil

I see some rust on the axle shaft, but it's not clear that if extends to where the seal runs. Is that the concern? As for the seal itself, it's a straightforward replacement operation. If the bushing is worn and causing the leak, it can also be replaced while you're at it.

A quick and dirty test of the MAF sensor is to unplug it and see if it runs better. ~Steve

What is the air recirculation switch set for? Does that make a difference? ~Steve

Re: 2003 XC70 intermittent “open tailgate” message, it is no

I had the same issue with my '01 V70 a few years ago. Now I'm trying to remember what I found and did.
The latch switch grounding through the defogger grid sounds familiar. I think I just established a new ground - probably by way of the wiper motor. ~Steve
