Re: Options for seized engine

What abot if I were to install a running NON TURBO ? Would it still bolt right in? I know I would lose HP but for short term is that an option?

Re: Options for seized engine

Thanks everyone. I will keep looking for a decent used engine, but in meantime I will try to see what happened here. I am going to assume right off that it is oil starvation. I had an oil light problem and fixed the PVC system. As soon as I fixed that I had a huge white smoke issue. I was taking the...

Options for seized engine

Well it happened. My engine is seized. I am wondering about what I should do. Firstly the car is a 98 Volvo V70 Wagon, Leather interior, Turbo, AWD with 5 spd :D What should I do??? 1- Haven't been able to find a used engine in my area 2- I have the skills and friends that I THINK I could do a basic...

Re: Huge white smoke- FRUSTRATED

Car is TOAST :? I put it all back together, started it up. No smoke YAY, but it was running like crap, almost like it was on 3 or 4 cylinders. I took it for a drive thinking I would clean it out from sitting. Engine stalled on me while driving on highway. It just died and of course all the dash ligh...

Re: Huge white smoke- FRUSTRATED

Thanks

I assume the right-angle turn is straight down. I will get a "bendy thing" to clean it out lol

Re: Huge white smoke- FRUSTRATED

Thank you very much

Mine is clean as far as I can reach my finger in (nothing like that picture) I am just wondering how big a hole it is between that hole an the other pic that jblackburn posted?

What have people been using to ensure that passage is clean? How big of a passage is it?

Ok so I am trying to ensure the PVC drain is actually clear. I can barely get a thin wire though the hole. How can I be sure it is clear. What size hole should there be? Does anyone have a view of the hole from the front of the engine?

Re: Huge white smoke- FRUSTRATED

Thank You I wish I would have checked that when I had the oil pan off, I scraped at it and blew some carb cleaner down it too. I was able to push the carb cleaner "straw" down a bit but not really easily. I have NO play in the turbo, not vertical or horizontal. But the turbo spins freely I...

Re: Huge white smoke- FRUSTRATED

The oil seperator only sucks in oil from blowby (from the turbo and top of the engine) and puts it back into the crankcase. Use a wire brush or something to clean out the holes in the block. I can't figure out how these holes are suppose to feel/look when clean. On the top one I can feel an indent ...

Re: Huge white smoke- FRUSTRATED

I am leaning more towards it being the turbo seals. The two main reasons are; 1- there was very little smoke prior to the oil light going on, as soon as I fixed the restricted oil flow it smokes horrible 2- the smoke did not smell sweet, it smelt "oily" I am still going to do a leakdown te...
