Well it was been a busy few weeks. After our 2004 XC70 became unreliable, engine dying for no reason. Sometimes refusing to start and NO check engine light or errors from VIDA. I replaced the CEM for the second time. That fixed the running issues. Now the sunroof was not opening. So the next weekend...

I located a 2004 XC90 at a local breaker. I had them pull the drivers master switch, swapped them in the parking lot and it fixed all my problems. The switch cost me $55. Problem solved. No software markings or label of the replacement unit. I did not check with VIDA, just happy it is now working.

I am not certain if this pertains, but the windshield wipers stopping working on our 2008 XC90 was the first sign of failure of the CEM unit in the car. I had the CEM rebuilt by XEMODEX and it solved the issue.

Fantastic info here! Thank you! In my opinion the sw version is only available via CAN aka VIDA reading of the SW modules. I second Dikidera's opinion as the Volvo firmware in the DDM could have been upgraded at some point. Get a DiCE + VIDA setup going and read the version information of that modul...

Ok, I check the fuses. I did not find what I expected to see from your comment. There was a fuse in position 35 for front door left and one in position 36 for front door right. Both were 25A and intact. I looked for position 27 and there was no fuse present. The position is labeled as "CCD"...

Thank you! I will check both fuses. I found some more links that also point to a cold or dry solder joint failing in the module. If it's not the fuse, I am on the fence of trying to reflow the solder on the PCBs of the DDM or just purchase a salvaged unit and use it (in fear of it just failing again...
