I had this prolem some years ago with a 740 GL carb. model, turned out to be a gummed up float needle valve in the smaller choke side of the carb.

I have the same problem (see my reply to ' Brake system failure on 2000 S80 ', by ranson), and the steps I took to live with this apparently incurable problem. I had the full Monty with Complete Brake Failure message, warning lights like a Christmas tree and frozen dash gauges and Sat Nav. Riverside...

Hi, I have the same problem on my 1999 T6. It spent a lot of (time and money) in Riverside Volvo Hull, where they replaced the ECU, ABS control unit, checked all connections and groundings and installed new software into every module, to no avail.
