How much play is ok? If play is bad, is it possible to replace that bearing without taking apart the whole transmission ...

An experience it was. The seat was all the way back so I couldn't get to the rear bolts. One of the motors had broken so it was also twisted in the tracks. I had to disassemble the seat from the side rails so I could get to the bolts. It took about 2 hours. There's probably a better way to do it ...

Yes, the original seat has the 3 memory positions.
