Update: Compression check failed...air was exiting through the intake valve. Partially disassembling the engine the mechanic finds that ALL the intake valves are stuck in the open position (cam turns and t-belt not broken). I cannot imagine how or why this could happen to all valves at the same time...

Update. Ran out of weather and time to replace the starter myself. Had car towed to mechanic. Mechanic doesn’t think it is the starter but rather no compression. So, if so, that would mean I loss total compression while driving after about 40 minutes at highway speeds. Any thoughts what would cause ...

Here’s what I’ve tried so far. Swapped in a known good battery...same symptom...slow cranking. Also tried using jumper cables from battery to ground and hot post on starter...same symtoms, so would seem to indicate wiring and/or alternator is not the problem. Checked timing belt...not broken. Hello, so driving home from work and all of a sudden all my dash lights come on and car stops. When trying to restart the starter and alternator pulleys turn but weak. I'm guessing the alternator is shot? The battery is only a few months old.

Hi, have a 1995 850 5 spd manual. The shifter stem feels like catches on something when shifting gears...kinda of like there is a channel the stem is not quite aligned with. It feels like it is right there at the stem...underneath the boot. Anyone have any suggestions as to what migh be causing this...
