Update....
Got it out and only had to remove a couple rivets. I had a couple bad rivets on the mudflap anyway so now the wrench is out and ALL the rivets are good. Still a pain though.

Re: Harmonic Balancer??
Do they normally rattle in the final stages of life or do they just break. As I mentioned in my previous post the motor is running perfect so there is no key / timing issue. Clatter disappears upon acceleration. Could it be one of the other pulley's going bad or loose. Alternator? Power Steering?? I...

Re: Harmonic Balancer??
Good idea! I'll give it a try this weekend while I'm working on my rear wiper / washer issue. If it is the HB (I'm betting that it is), how tough of a fix is it?? Thanks Lee!!

Harmonic Balancer??
1996 850 Wagon N/A 120,000 miles Okay, Once again I am stumped. After hearing a "clattering" noise coming from the serp belt area ever since I bought the car (about a month ago), I have slowly tried to narrow down the cause. I've replaced the AC compressor (AC didn't work anyway and clutch...

Re: How do I get the finish to shine?
If you already have a Porter Cable I HIGHLY recommend Adams Polishes! They have a kit designed for the PC and it will completely bring your paint back to life! My 1996 850 Wagon was pink when I bought it. Yep, the paint was that oxidized. It looks brand new now. I've even had people at work ask me i...

Re: Doah!! Wrench Fell In Fender Hood Hinge Hole!
3 nuts and about 12 rivets, voila, the fender liner is off. And, there is the lost goodie. Did I mention the 127 cuss words? Yeah, I was hoping to avoid the rivets and nuts and removal of the fender liner. So right 'bout the 127 cuss words. I think I may have even invented a few new ones!! I'll let...

Re: Special Tool for A/C Compressor Removal
Yep, got mine out with standard sockets and wrenches. Had to remove fan shroud and loosen or move a bunch of other stuff too. Don't forget about the access thru the passenger side fender lining. Wear a long sleeved shirt and gloves cause you WILL get scraped up. Good luck!

Doah!! Wrench Fell In Fender Hood Hinge Hole!
Just install the the accessory belt tensioner in my 1996 850 wagon. All good. Except.... My channel lockes that I used to pull out the tension pin fell in the the hole in the fender for the hood hinge. It sounds like it fell to the bottom of fender. Uh...how do I access the inner fender to get it ou...

Re: My New AC Compressor Is In. Be wary of replcmt. belt len
Yep, I did check into it. But my problem was a frozen compressor clutch. Got a used one cheap so I am good to go. Gotta feeling I may be doing the "shim" trick on this one before too long.
