There are TWO break warning bulbs in the dash - BRAKE and PARKING BRAKE

I had assumed the BRAKE bulb was for both the break fluid level and the parking brake, and I started down the path to debug the switch on the hand break and got wrapped around the axle.

The '96 850 there is one yellow wire to the open/closed switch, which then uses just chassis ground.

I have manually touched yellow wire to good chassis ground while engine on - still no bulb light

I've got a hunch the yellow wire is going into the computer - but I can't find a good wiring diagram ...

1996 850 Wagon

- BRAKE bulb DOES light during pre engine start cluster bulb test
- BRAKE bulb DOES light when brake fluid level sensor removed
- BRAKE bulb DOES NOT light when handbrake engaged
- Handbrake continuity switch checks OK
- Grounding Handbrake yellow wire to chassis DOES NOT light bulb ...

I have same problem.

HB dash light comes on during pre-start test, but not with HB

HB Switch itself checks good.

Still no joy in grounding the yellow HB light - dash bulb will not go on.

[Q] Anyone know where that yellow HB light wire goes to?

I can't find that circuit in the 1996 850 wiring ...

I changed from stock 15in steel wheels to stock 15in mag alloy 6 spoke wheel for 1996 850.

[Q] Can the stock studs for stock steel wheels be used on the mags?

They seems to fit and tighen fine - just checking.
