Re: 97, 850 turbo, stalling, not starting, many fault codes

Hello to all and thanks to those who replied to my post on the stalling - not starting problem. I let it set for a long time since I had other wheels and finally went back to it recently. I eventually replaced all five plugs, replaced the distributor cap and coil. It started and ran like a champ sho...

Re: 97, 850 turbo, stalling, not starting, many fault codes

Thanks for the reply. I have a new relay on the way for both the pumpo and injectors, in addition to a MAF sensor.\ I bought them cheap enough to risk it. I have to re-read your posts but was your car stalling and not starting at times? Anyone know if an O2 sensor could cause the stalling and not st...

Re: 97, 850 turbo, stalling, not starting, many fault codes

I had a helper turn the key on while I touched the main relay after I pulled it and re-inserted, ,,,it clicked. Then same while listening to the pump and it was whining. Then I checked for pressure at the rail valve and it squirted with more pressure than I expected. I have seen more and much older ...

Re: Starting problem

I am having similar issues as have many others in these groups. I would appreciate knowing the exact location of these cold soldered connections you and others have mentioned. Are they in the fuse/relay box or inside the relays and if so, how do you open them to look? Also others have referred to th...

Re: fuel pump check valve, and what disables fuel injectors?

t5rr: Have you found the problem? Was it with the cam sensor? Too many posters fail to come back in the end and advise us what the cure was, if indeed it was ever found. I am having similar issues with my 850 so maybe you could cut some time and money off my experiments. It would certainly be apprec...

97, 850 turbo, stalling, not starting, many fault codes

Hello to all I am still learning and new to working on Volvos. My 850 had an oil leak so I repaired the Turbo cooler lines after a good deal of effort. I got good info from this group in how to do it and I am appreciative for that. However, just before I took it apart for the oil fix, it started sta...

Re: Oil Cooler Hose Replacement

I am done with that job until I can check for leaks. I am starting another thread on a new issue. I cut notches on the Thermostat side of the anchor brackets and inserted the screw in the block first, then slipped the brackets on under a washer. Worked well. I also replaced the two screws on the the...

Re: Oil Cooler Hose Replacement

Were the O-rings you used Green like OEM or black furnished with the hoses?

Thanks for the pic. I was lining the brackets up and it did appear that that is the way to
getting it right.

Thanks again.

Re: Oil Cooler Hose Replacement

I have everything apart at this point. I have only a short time each day to work on it. I had to get my longest, sharpest chisel and chip at the two screws holding the thermostat housing until finally getting them loose. Two # 7 cap screws will replace them. Now I find the o-rings that came with the...

Re: Oil Cooler Hose Replacement

I have an 850, '97 and working on a leaking oil cooler line. I took everything apart with ease until trying to get to the thermostat housing mentioned above. I can't even access the single torx screw holding the lines on the thermostat housing and the other two on the housing are akin to being froze...
