Hey, if the old one is trash, pull it. It can't hurt anything. It is going in the garbage and you are going to replace it any way.

Re: Tires rubbing wheel well cover
Those limiters in the above link are neat. If I had had them I would have went that route. But, I didn't and I would not have spend that much if a dealer that carried them happened to move within a hundred miles of me. Washers I had in the shop, free.

Re: 2000 S80 T6 Heater Core
That looks like what I did. In removing the core, I pulled down rather hard and bent a few of the alum fins at the bottom of the core. Looking at it once it was out, I figured I would push the new core in. If I didn't bend many more fins on the way in than on the way out, I could live with it. It ac...

Re: Tires rubbing wheel well cover
On the bottom, rear of the A frame there is a stop that is there to prevent the wheels from over-turning. That stop does wear. This allows the wheels to turn too far and hit the wheel wells. They are easy to remove and either place a small washer under them to make up for the wear or to swap them si...

Re: 2000 S80 T6 Heater Core
I did a 99 recently. Maybe my experience will help you. The alum tubes were the most difficult part of the job. The 99 has plastic tabs high on the pleneum that support those pipes. I ended up breaking off the latching piece of plastic on the rear tab. This allowed the pipes to be lowered about 1/2 ...

Maybe not thru Volvo, but many trailer repair facilities can replace rubber bushings quite easily.

Re: S80 Overheating Mystery
This is childish to ask, but you did not say. Are you using coolant? How much, how often?
I would suggest using a strong light and really looking at the heater hoses and connections. Also, the expansion tank cap may be loosing its grip and allowing leakage.
Good Luck

Re: S80 Overheating Mystery
Well, that is a first for me too. I have never, ever seen a plastic impeller on a water pump. Thanks for the photos.

Re: S80 Overheating Mystery
To check the water pump easily, remove one of the heater hoses at the firewall. Then start the car for a few seconds. You will see a fire hose if the water pump is working properly.
Good luck and remember to tell us what you find.
