I would suggest looking at "swedishautoparts.com" to at least narrow down the Volvo part #, and give their tech people a shout....Looks like they run about $125 ea. for the older S40...No clue about an aftermarket spring....I was looking for an AFT instead of OES before having my struts done late ...
