I ended up slicing the stuck tube off. Apparently, the nipples it was attached to have ridges that make tube removal very difficult. After slicing the whole tube off both ends, I replaced it with a similar tube and secured each end with hose clamps.

Replacing the in-tank fuel sender unit
The instructions sound so simple. After devising a tool to rotate the locking cap, then just “lift the sender unit out of the tank.” There are 2 hoses attached preventing removal. One hose leads to the fuel filter and inline pump. I got that one off. The other leads to a screw-in fitting on a metal ...
