Re: '98 S70 Jerky hesitation
When my fuel pump failed this past winter, it didn't make any noise at all. Before I removed it, I noticed that tapping on the pump with a screwdriver handle would start it running again. I replaced it with a junkyard fuel pump to get it back on the road quickly, and ordered the insert kit from FCP....

Re: 98 V70 black strips on roof and down A pillars - Paint
I took mine off to paint them. Less worry about damaging the car paint during prep, and no need to worry about overspray. You do have to be careful to avoid bending them while prepping, though.

Re: Unknown special bolts
Those bolts look vaguely familiar..... By any chance, do you still need to install the belt guard that goes around the bottom of the crankshaft pulley? It seems to me that those bolts are similar. IIRC the long nose helps get things lined up and the threads started. (Although I still found it a kind...

Re: 854 to 855 compatibility of rear springs?
I didn't have any trouble removing the rear springs in my '96 855R. I had the car on stands, and used the "support the spring with the jack while disconnecting and then carefully lower the jack under the spring" method. I'd never done anything like it before, so I was very careful. I was s...

Re: Another "Radio is Shorted" thread
I took a close look for shorts inside the connectors on both ends of the harness, but I don't see anything wrong. As for the amp bypass harness, I think I know what you mean. Since my car has the amp, the harness comes out from behind the instrument panel and at from C/CR connector it goes to anothe...

Re: Another "Radio is Shorted" thread
Thanks for the replies. The radio and amp are completely disconnected. Connectors 24/13A and C/CR are unplugged--see the first diagram. The short to ground is in one of the two wires that runs between them. These are the ones marked R-SB in the schematic. To answer your question sleddriver, I didn't...

Another "Radio is Shorted" thread
A while back my radio suddenly stopped working. It's an SC815 Premium Sound edition with the separate amp. A quick check found that fuse #7 had blown. The next fuse blew as soon as it made contact. I got my voltmeter out, and measured the resistance from the fuse block terminal to ground--0 ohms. I ...

scot850 said: Finally check all the battery cables for corrosion and earth cables for good contacts. This. Are you measuring voltage across the battery terminals? If you are, then I suggest you do a voltage drop test across your positive battery cable. You can search on this, but basically you just ...

Re: Two steps forward, one back
You described the clunk as "slight", so I'll throw this out there just in case. I had a really small clunk in my steering wheel, typically when starting from stop, even after changing everything in the front just like you did. In my case it turned out to be dried up grease in the steering ...
