QUick update,
I took everything but the steering wheel off to find that the brackets as dissolved and gone but in the process of putting it back together i found 2 screws where missing from right where the center console and the dash meet, after putting some screws in it did tighten up the entire ...

almost got the dash out! just need to get the steering wheel off which will have to wait till tomorrow when i get the jack stands........ long tedious work ill tell you what

I think that i have found out how to do it by looking on this forum and others, seems like a daunting task but i will get it done! wish me luck

I replaced my 2001 volvo s60 head unit with a after market one. Unplug the battery to ensure to not trip the air bag warrning.
