Used Rackdoctor.net anyone?

Has anyone used rackdoctor.net for parts? They have the lowest price I have found so far for a rebuilt power steering rack, but I don't know about their reputation.

Need Rhode Island or south Massachusetts mechanic

I need someone who is good to install a rebuilt power steering rack on my 2000 V70 XC AWD Wagon SE. Rhode Island preferred, but Southern Massachusetts or northern Connecticut would be okay. Non-Volvo dealer, please, too expensive.

Thanks, I was starting to despair! Where can I find the re-building kit?

Re: FCP Groton Went out of their way for me.

That's good to know! I will keep Dan Clayton and FCP Groton in mind for parts. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Power Steering - Required?

Do some research (ask other older Volvo owners you come across in parking lots, etc.) who does their work. You need to find a trusty non-dealer (independent), and CERTAINLY not Midas, Firestone, etc. or any other chain. They are OK for mufflers and tires, (but I'd still go to the indy for the muffl...

Re: Please help us crush SPAM

I am confused a bit. The posts had a link with FCP Euro in it. Was that SPAM or not? I got a good reply to my first questioning post with that link in it too!

Need Help, Providence, Rhode Island PS 2000 V70

My (bought used 2 months ago) 2000 V70 AWD has a power steering leak, diagnosed by Midas as a Rack leak. Lucas Stop Leak did not work - 3 days plus so far. I do not have parts.
I live in Cranston, RI, USA, which is next to Providence.
Any suggestions? I am not very good with cars.

Re: Power Steering - Required?

Thanks, JDS60R, That's exactly what I needed to know. I thought the alternator price was high, but believed it was a "Volvo thing" - high price to repair for a foreign car! All your other advice was great and I will follow it. This is a terrific forum!

Power Steering - Required?

2000 V70 AWD. Dumb question, I suspect. No money. Can the car be steered and driven without the power steering? History: The power steering leak in my 2000 V70 AWD was diagnosed by Midas as caused by the rack. We tried Lucas Stop Leak for a few days, frequently refilling, and it didn't work. From re...
