1998 V70R: loud popping noise on radio on inrush loads (headlights/fan switching on). Persists after repair attempts
My car's got a weird electrical problem i'm having trouble tracking down. Whenever something that briefly draws a large amount of current switches on (radiator fan spinning up, headlights or high beams heating up, and at seemingly random other times), the radio emits a deafeningly loud staticky pop ...

Re: '98 V70R 250k mile front suspension refresh - who makes durable, quality parts these days? What do I actually need?
Thank y'all for advice, it's quite helpful. I've already got IPD sway bars and HD end links, installed with IPD poly subframe bushings in 2016 or so, and Koni Yellows that still have plenty of life in them. I live in California, so I don't think my springs are gonna need replacing. Already got poly ...

'98 V70R 250k mile front suspension refresh - who makes durable, quality parts these days? What do I actually need?
It's been a while since I've looked at what's available. There's a variety of different parts, but I'm not sure exactly which parts I should be replacing for peace of mind. The only suspension issues I could identify currently are a creaking noise when cranking the wheel in parking lots, which I ...

Re: 1998 V70: tailgate stuck shut; how in the world do I remove the trim panel while it's closed?
Looking forward to the post-mortem!
Happily (but sadly for those with similar issues), I was able to get the thing open one more time by repeatedly actuating the unlock lever on the driver's side door. The latch was falling the hell apart inside, it's no wonder nothing worked anymore; the parts ...

1998 V70R: computer alleges misfire on 4 cylinders under full throttle at high passing speeds
I just got back from a long road trip, and discovered that around 80-90 mph and with the pedal to the floor, the check engine light starts flashing. I don't actually notice any roughness, stumbles, or drop in power when it does this.

1998 V70: tailgate stuck shut; how in the world do I remove the trim panel while it's closed?
My hatch latch is broken.
Every resource I've found about latch repairs (bless RobertDIY for what he does) either starts with the trim panel already off, or says I should have the tailgate open to remove it.
I need to remove the panel to get to the latch. I need to get to the latch to open the ...

Winch mount?
I enjoy doing ill-advised desert adventuring in my '98 V70R, but I'd love to be able to self-extract easily with a ground anchor if I ever get stuck. I got stranded once and I refuse to get stranded again.
Has anyone successfully mounted a winch to a P80?

Re: Upgrade turbo without tune?
(1) It is totally normal to have oil in the piping. Unless it is flooded with oil, it is probably fine. And these TD-04HL turbos are extremely hardy, unlikely to have blown seals though of course it is possible.
Unfortunately there's more oil than usual seeping out of the pipe, and my oil ...
