You have to drill them out I believe. You then purchase two new ones from Volvo (easiest route). Some of these column lock modules require a software download to activate them. This module does indeed lock the steering column and appears to be jammed in the 'unlocked' position, although the car believes it is in the 'locked' position and continues to direct me to turn the steering wheel. 2008 S80 Steering Column Lock Module: DIY? Fastener Removal?
Have a dead steering column module, stuck in the UNLOCKED POSITION. Was going to try to replace it. Removed both upper and lower steering column cowl pieces, but how to remove the two fasteners on each side of the unit? Thanks
