2018 XC90 T6 Thor’s Hammer headlights

I’m looking at a used 2018 XC90 T6 with Thor’s Hammer adaptive headlights. I have had a few Volvos but they all had normal headlights. These look to be super expensive to repair/replace.

I’m not sure I want to buy an 8 year old car with headlights that cost 5k to replace and are not user ...

Re: 2012 XC60 Overheating

Also, don’t buy a cheap aftermarket Fan Control Module. I got mine at FCP Euro (OEM). The one I removed was the original and worked for 189k miles. I read that the aftermarket ones can fail within a few months.
Unless you can’t afford or wait for the OEM, of course.

Re: 2012 XC60 Overheating

Just posting follow-up in case someone else has the same issue.
I replaced the Fan Control Module (attached to the dual fan assembly) and did not replace my dual fan assembly.
It is very easy to replace the Fan Control Module: Unplug cable, remove one screw, remove Module. Install new Module in ...

Re: 2012 XC60 Overheating

I don’t think the etc is part of the thermostat housing, but will check into that. I did sort of check the thermostat before having it replaced. I kept my hand on the top radiator hose, after starting the car, and waited for it to suddenly get hot. With the AC running, after 8 mins, it never did. I ...

2012 XC60 Overheating

My XC60 overheated last week. Hot day, medium city traffic, AC on, 15 min drive. Fan stayed on after shut off, but only ~5 mins.

Shop could not find a problem. Said there was nothing wrong with it. I asked them to test the Thermostat, Radiator Fan Assembly and Fan Control Module. They were ...

2012 Volvo XC60 T6 - What is this part?

I brought my car in for a transmission flush because it had intermittent slipping. (I know it’s supposed to not need it but I have ~180,000 miles on it).
In the process of doing the trans flush, they broke some hoses, the trans oil cooler, and put a screwdriver through my radiator. They replaced ...

XC60 Steering Rack Replacement

My 2012 XC60 has been leaking steering fluid for months. Mechanic replaced the steering lines, as he said that was the problem, but now it leaks even worse. I do some repairs but can’t replace a steering rack myself so I am looking at options because it is so expensive to have done. There is a place ...

Re: XC60 2014 Tailgate operation stopping along travel

This happened to my tailgate. XC60 2012. I read a lot of different things regarding solutions: adjustments that could be made to the lift gate height regulator (didn’t work), adding lubricant to the motors, etc. Then my left lift motor broke in half. Well, at least then I could see inside. The ...

xc60 oil trap (PCV) replacement

My engine was showing a code intermittently. I can't hear any squeal but there is a definite vacuum when I pull the dipstick or try to remove the oil cap. The dipstick line hisses when I pull it out. So, I'm going to replace the Oil Trap (PCV). The Mechanic wants $450 for this, including 2 hours ...
