Thanks so much, thats what he probably did, for a quick fix, when the car wouldn't start. It is an automatic, do you have any clue as to why he might do this?

Thanks for the reply. Both sets of wires are connected securely behind drivers side panel. Still starts in every gear. Any Idea where those wires go? Thanks Steve

sounds like adjustment screws on park safety switch loose, or you need a re adjustment and tightening. Remove shifter cover, two screws in front.
