Think I've figured it out. I pressed tried putting a fuel pressure gauge to the Shrader valve, and it didn't read anything. I think I actually broke the gauge trying to get it in there around the throttle cable thingy, but whatever. So then I pressed on the Shrader valve with a flathead screwdriver ...

dude its your cat. im sure when you smash the gas the engine gives a low toned grumble. do the paper test, or get under cover from the rain and remove the downpipe from the exhaust side of the turbo and give it a short drive, you will immediately feel a difference

yes, you can disconnect the whole downpipe from the turbo, car will be loud but if the problem goes away then you know what it is.. and that kind of miles on a cat on a rich running car would fail around then.

i agree, the sound of air escaping could be your whole issue.
