Not sure where you are in Chicago or burbs but when I lived there I used Hubbard Woods Motors in Wilmette and Volvo Tech up by Gurnee. Both were good shops specializing in Volvo but Ken at Volvo Tech was a little cheaper.

Had same issue recently, check for codes. Replaced PNP and all good now.

To do all of that is a ton if work and a lot of headaches, if you are jones'ing for a turbo (dont blame you there) just sell what you have and buy one. And get a 2.3

I had a similar issue on a VW I used to own. I was driving on the highway cruising along at 70 mph and power just dropped. Car would keep running with no stall but I had no power at all. I was able to get home and my cat converter was completely plugged up.

good point Sid, when i was installing a third seat in my v70, I faced the same challenge of the belt winding up.
I pulled it out a little but and but some vise grips on it to hold it in place.
