2007 XC90 Diesel slight 100-300rpm transmission flare
Hi All, Just after some advice on my 2007 Volvo XC90 Diesel. The transmission is shifting relatively nicely except for a slight flare on 2-3, and 3-4. Unlike other flaring I’ve seen the RPM only jumps slightly (i.e 100-300rpm). You can feel/hear a slight surge of the engine as it happens but the shi...

Re: Volvo XC90 Diesel 2007 - TF80SC - Lock up solenoid stuck in Off
Thanks Ggleavitt, reading through the posts. Very similar issues but the lock up solenoid issue seems to go unmentioned.
Interestingly by transmission is an 06K

Volvo XC90 Diesel 2007 - TF80SC - Lock up solenoid stuck in Off
Hi All, I've been scouring the forums but haven't found anything specific to my problem. I have a 2007 XC90 Diesel with the TF80SC which is throwing a TCM0051 error: "Lock-up solenoid SLU stuck in position OFF". The issue seems to be triggered under load e.g. driving up a hill. The transmi...

Re: Running rough in cold weather - suspect cooling system?
Hi All, Just following up. I was convinced that the thermostat was the issue so I replaced it only - The problem still persisted. I then replaced the coolant temperature sensor and voila! the problem was resolved. My car is running normally again. Replacing the thermostat did help the issue slightly...

Re: Running rough in cold weather - suspect cooling system?
Hi Chuck/Abscate - thanks for the advice.
I'll change out my thermostat/temp sensor and report back.

Running rough in cold weather - suspect cooling system?
Hi, It’s getting colder where I live and my 1997 S70 20V N/A has been displaying some odd behaviour. Each morning, I’ll drive from cold for 7-8 minutes until the temperature gauge is at the (normal) 3 o’clock position. Once this point is reached, the thermostat presumably opens and then the temperat...

Re: 1998 Volvo V70 A modernish Volvo to upgrade to?
Thankyou for the feedback so far. To clarify - I'm really after a suggestion of a more modern Volvo that has similar reliability and maintenance costs to my 1998 V70. I consider the V70 to be a safe car for it's age, but keen to get some of the additional safety engineering/features that has been de...

1998 Volvo V70 A modernish Volvo to upgrade to?
Hi All, I love my 1998 Volvo V70 N/A, but it's now got high kilometers and is looking a bit rough. My favorite aspects of this car are that it is solid, comfortable/powerful for long haul drives, and easy to maintain. Having owned several European cars, I consider the 1998 V70 year model to be one o...

1997 S70 Cloudy red power steering fluid
Hi All, Just wondering if this is normal or not? The power steering fluid in my 1997 S70 was a murkey/cloudy red color. I decided this didn't look right so I replaced it with some fresh fluid. After a couple of days the fresh clear red fluid that I added has also turned a cloudy red color. Is this n...

Re: 1997 S70 Hard Shifting transmission 50-42 - low kilomete
A long overdue update… I’ve changed the oil in my S70 (and ensured that it is at the correct level) but the hard shift persists. I’ve used the same type of oil that I use my V70 that has the butter smooth shifts. I’ve checked the hot air door on the breather box, and the hard shifting occurs regardl...
