2000 V70R rear calipers
Scot850 gave me a very good lead for Nugeon calipers, but after many calls I found that, theoretically, there is only 1, for the left side, between Canada, USA, and Mexico. Nothing for the right. So, I've been searching parting-out sites for these special rear calipers, which fit only the 2000 R, an...

Re: 2000 V70R - Now it begins -Rear AWD sub-frame replacement
Neil, Thank you for the help you provided. I did replace all that mess under the car, but the bad luck seems to continue. I posted in your other string (about the rear calipers). You may have saved me twice. In that post I mentioned that my mechanic changed the hoses without checking whether the old...

Re: 2000 V70R - Rear Calipers no longer available, retrofit is.
The info on this posting could be a godsend, since my mechanic changed the rear hoses without checking either whether the new calipers were correct, or whether the old could be bled (nope, nope). Now, how about the backing plates?

Was this fully resolved? Have had a similar problem.

Re: 2000 V70R light surge at speed
Thank you! Very clear. Never found any of that in searches. So, another question: if I check the boost hose at idle, will I see pressure? If so, what value? Should I test at various RPMs? And, your description implies there is no diaphragm involved in the boost, so there is only one (at the wastegat...

Re: 2000 V70R - AWD 5-speed auto trans oil level
So true: a PITA-mobile for sure. I have one; if you'd care to swap stories and info, that might be very helpful. Right now I'm trying to find out if the two vacuum lines from the vacuum solenoid for the turbo (TCV), going to wastegate and boost (?) diaphragms, should hold a vacuum. If so, then I hav...

Re: 2000 V70R light surge at speed
About that turbo..... I still get some variability at low acceleration. New mystery. So I put a vacuum on the wastegate (yellow hose) and it held beautifully at 18 (what I randomly got sucking on the hose). But the black hose at the bottom of the solenoid (to the boost?) had nothing (the blue goes t...

Re: 2000 V70R light surge at speed
I'm not 100% sure the problem has disappeared (cooler weather may have affected it), but it does seem pretty much gone. I replaced the vacuum switch solenoid and 2 of the 3 vacuum hoses for the turbo (slight difference), then the O2 sensors upon seeing in the records (back to 113,000 miles) that nei...

Re: 2000 V70R light surge at speed
Probably looked up an old Beetle: pliers and no time at all. 5+ certainly sounds more like it, plus diaphragm replacement. Gads, I'll have to crowd-fund it. Disconnected both battery terminals and tapped together; disconnected/reconnected solenoid, and tapped with the 10 mm. I figure it's a solenoid...

Re: 2000 V70R light surge at speed
Thanks to all for the input. Of course when all is done I'll post the disposition. For now, the problem is getting noticeably worse. My mechanic looked up the labor price, and his computer said .75 hours for turbo removal. (Abscate, is that a guffaw I hear?) I'll see him again next week when he has ...
