The reman never worked. The seller says they teplaced it, it didn't come on, they did some cursory tests and gave up. Apparently they have several vehicles and decided to give up on this one.

They say the vendor was in Arizona or Nevada. That's sll I've got.

Disconnecting the battery is always the safest for you and the vehicle. But... I've changed these with the battery connected and never had an issue.

Couple of comments:

I have pulled several CVVT units out of wrecked junkers with great success. I've sold at least half a dozen on ebay, each with 60-day full-refund warranties and never heard a peep out of my buyers.

You can easily test your CVVT module with an ohm meter. Set the scale to 200 ...
