2000 V70 Gearshift Knob Removal

Post by allenzachary »

My daughter has a 2000 V70 SE with the ignition key removal problem. Her car has the "woodgrain" inlay gearshift lever, which she really likes. I understand cause is most likely a sticky gearshift button. I've seen Robert's video and believe I understand the fix as well. Give the knob a good yank and off it comes.

Here's the problem: I can't get the damn gearshift knob to come off. Is there a different removal technique for the 2000 knob? Is there a different technique for the woodgrain knob? Is it just that I don't have the strength or patience to remove it?

Thanks in advance.

I have actually opened the sunroof and pulled this shifter to N to get it jerked off.

Good advice, as usual, Robert.

I think my solution is to let daughter's college aged boyfriend take a shot at it. He is young and strong, and is itching to make a good impression on both of us.

I understand. That "boyfriend wants to impress" thing got a little expensive for us. LOL One step forward and 2 steps back.
