Re: 2004 XC70 occasional shudder under part throttle

Does it feel akin to accelerating over a garden hose or extension cord? I’m going to say (without suggestions given from VIDA), DEM pump is on its way out. If so, this is a good thing! Much easier to replace than trans. Get the car in the air & run it in gear to test for AWD function. On our 04 XC A...

Re: '06 V70 NA throttle response

These old Volvo's just "know" when you've been in there 'investing' in them. Get the job right & they tend to reward you, as you noticed, occasionally

Re: hood 05 xc-70

As far as I know the P2 hoods are the same. S60, V70, XC70 should all be identical. The one I replaced our 06 XC with is off an S60. It’s not a pride thing for me, or bragging rights. More like the help I have close by would probably end up creating more damage than I was trying to repair in the fir...

Re: hood 05 xc-70

One pair of hands is fine. The hood is pretty lightweight. Agreed. It’s pretty surprising how light they are. Install & alignment takes 5-10 minutes. I have a silver one with a nice sized hail dent in the middle of it for $20 on marketplace. Doubt your close enough though. I’d just get a replacemen...

Re: Up To Speed '06 V70 NA

You did really great Glenn. And the work you've already done has helped you to circumnavigate the majority of the issues posted here most frequently (timing belt related issues, pcv stuff, suspension, etc.). I paid a lot more than that recently for an older car with 27k more miles & has required sig...

Re: '06 XC Fatal Fault?

Tell him to check the purple wire for a small section of it being "green" with corrosion. It will be within 4-5" of the plug I pictured earlier. With ours, it would often crank but NOT start. Occasionally while running would shut off. But the crank-no-start was the most prevalent symptom. Check the ...

Re: ABS BCM message failure

I'm clueless as far as an alternative solution to Xemodex. I faintly remember them wanting to know your ABS codes. In my case, I had no way of knowing them, so, in desperation I did the $600 (I think it was $600 several years ago) Xemodex ABS repair/return. This was probably 80k ago & zero issues to...

Re: '06 V70 upper shock mounts Topic is solved

Were your dampers leaking oil?

Or are you doing this to improve the ride in the rear of the car?

I've replaced several rear & front coil springs (they rust & crack over time), but never had a rear damper that was leaking. To me, if it ain't leaking, I don't mess with it.

Re: What Boost/Vacuum Gauge are you running?

Thanks - it's rough and was my first ever attempt at fiberglass work. Yeah, it's dimmable, but I hooked it up to the hazard light button, so it's dim when it's on (enough to see at night though). The amusing part is that if I hit the hazard button, then the gauge flashes bright/off/bright/off. haha...
