Not that I know of, I haven't done this tear down before, my 2 previous Volvos were 850's and didn't have this problem, there is a good step by step fix in the repair database. I would ckeck with MIJ or some of the Senior members they know more about this than I do>

Sounds like a very sick tiny jet engine warming up (front left of the hood) you can hear it when your drivers window is down, usually mine happens when I stop at a drive thru window, or a red light just off of the interstate. Haven't yet, wait for warmer weather to take out the air pump, and ...

I have the same code, is your air pump running when you stop at red lights, and at the drive thru?

I have had a K&N filter in Mine for over a year definatly helps a little, but make sure you let the oil dry completely, I had to replace my MAF sensor a couple of days after cleaning mine.

Can I run without it forever, Since Alabama doesn't require emissions testing!!!!!

OK, I have gone through the Air Pump Threads, and I am bidding on a VW air pump on ebay, will the car run while the air pump is out?

Should I do the Check valve, then the SAS Valve first or do all of them at the same time?

are these connected? What excactly does the pump do? I also have code
442 regularly.
