sticking shift lock 2000 s-70 fix?

The 'knob' on my console shifter sticks in the recessed position which prevents the key from being removed until I play with the recessed part and get it to pop out. I asked my mechanic and he said they normally replace the whole thing. Is there an easier fix? I sprayed some lubricant in there and i...

if you are diligent you can find a cup holder that fits onto your emergency brake. It works great and doesn't get in the way. Its about $4. I got mine at a swap meet. The other option and more available is a dual cup holder called a wedgie. It fits between the seat and the console. Many stores and a...

I just bought a s70 with the same problem. It seems the plug got loose from the holder so the element was still there but wouldn't connect with what I was plugging in. Rather than go to a dealer, I went to a local stereo shop. Those guys are used to taking apart consoles and stuff. It costs $25 and ...

I just bought a 2000 s70 and had the same problem. I always go to my local car stereo dealer. Those guys are used to pulling consoles and stuff apart. I gave the guy $45 and he repaired the liter that had slipped in (sounds similar) and he also fixed the shifter light that was burned out. It did tak...

well on my first road trip I got 32 running on 92 and was pretty happy. I drive so little so spending a little more won't kill me. My mechanic tells me these engines are a little more sensitive than my old 740 so I don't mind spending if it helps make it last. Thanks all for the advice.

I think you found out why the way its written its a little confusing. It recommends an octane of 91 but at the end it says minimum of 87 is ok. I'd still like to hear from people if they actually have used both grades and if they saw any difference. I'm driving about 300 miles tomorrow so thought I'...

2000 s70 fuel requirements

Hello, I just bought a 2000 s-70 with 79K miles. All is fine, but there wasn't an ouwners manual. Can you guys tell me if most of you run 87 or 91 octane fuel and what sort of economy do you get? This is the basic non turbo version. Wondering if someone who used both grades could determine any diffe...

2000 s70

I just bought a 2000 s70 and was going thru the same process. My local stereo shop does install a 2.5 mm jack, but it was suggested before spending the $$ to go out and buy a cassette adapter. It plugs into your IPOD etc and then into the casette player. Your Ipod will then play thru your car stereo...
