99 V70 Reversed Polarity jump starting: dead
My son left the car keys in last night, trying to reset the radio code and this morning the car turned over but wouldn't start. After work, with my VW Passat I tried to jump start it (something I've done lots of times without incident with other cars). I should confess here that I was tired and frus...

Re: sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
For what it's worth: The mechanic (Euro-car specialist shop) said it was the turbo hose thing was separated and dented from whatever it is supposed to be connected to. He guessed that my 17 yr old was out driving it roughly. No confession yet from said 17 year old. I have a perfectly good MAF, don't...

Re: sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
Hello! I received the BOSCH MAF and finally had a chance to replace it today. To summarize: The car had very sudden lurching and stalling and crazy RPMs and ETS light. Folks here helped me to diagnose an MAF by disconnecting it. For about 20 seconds the RPMs went up and down and then settled just un...

Re: sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
I've emailed the company I ordered from and requested to change my order for the Bosch part. Additionally, I've found the following paperwork. I'm 2nd owner of the car. I see that the original owner had a couple of relevant services, but I don't completely understand the invoices: 8/22/05: 89506 mil...

Re: sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
Should I have asked the AUtozone guy to clear the codes? I ordered an MAF, but not the Bosch (I hadn't seen your post yet). I suspect that might have been a mistake but they looked identical. Big, giant thanks to you all on this site. The last big save was when my rear drive shaft and rear different...

Re: sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
The nice guy at Autozone (yep, I drove the car there and back with MAF unhooked) hooked up the reader and got just one code: P0102
That was with both "Check engine" and "ETS" warning lights illuminated. Don't know if I should have re-hooked up the MAF and check again?

Re: sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
Thank you for the reply! I'll ask at work if anyone happens to have a code reader I can borrow. I've seen the "OBDII" port in the armrest and often wondered what it was. I tried something... I unhooked the air-flow meter and tried again. Instead of the stuccato rev'ing and zero "go&qu...

sudden ETS warning and limp after extreme cold
Hello All! This is my first post on MVS, but not my first visit. I've read posts on the converting AWD to FWD after drive shaft failure that saved me a fortune. I have a 1999 V70 AWD XC (that was just recently converted to FWD) with 133K miles. I'm the second owner and have had it from July. Yesterd...
