Re: 67 P220 eletrical issue

They are great little cars. Straight forward and well built. And fun to drive. Follow up #1 I removed the fuse box, cleaned the loose contacts and rerivetted the connections between the spade terminals and the fuse holders. To do that, hold a 1/4" punch vertically in a vise. put the head of the...

Re: 67 P220 eletrical issue

Out of your depth ? The idea to check the grounds (and supply) pointed the right direction. These cars fall into the electrical rather than electronic realm, my favorites. A slightly corroded or loose rivet is an easy fix. No car made today will be running is 50 years due to electronic failures. Tha...

Re: 67 P220 eletrical issue

The grounds all check out, bolted up tight and 0 ohms between the negative battery post and the body, the alternator and the engine. While I was checking the effect of turning on the various systems I was probing the connectors on the fuse box. The good news is that the symptoms disappeared. The bad...

67 P220 eletrical issue

'67 P220, mostly standard (bored to 2.0L, mild cam, etc) with a Delco 10Si alternator. Yesterday I noticed that shifting into reverse caused the AMP light to come on. Before I left for work, the wipers and turn signals worked. As I drove to work stepping on the brakes, turning on the wipers, the fan...

Re: Looking at a 2000 XC70

Good things to know. Too bad about so many parts becoming NLA.
More questions:
Is there a way to check the bevel drive to see if failure is imminent ?
Is there anything that can be done to prevent the failure ?

Looking at a 2000 XC70

My '07 S40 dropped a valve 700 miles from home so I'm looking for a different car. We have had Volvos for 40 some years and I have done my share of maintenance and repairs. I'm currently driving a '67 P220. The '00 XC70 is very clean, has about 125,000 miles on it. The story is that he inherited his...

Re: V50 Transmission flush. How to disconnect this quick connect connector.

I have the same situation with an '07 S40. I notice Haynes gets a little vague sometimes, like they haven't actually done the job. The advice from VIDA is right but... The connector on top of the transmission is inaccessible. Follow the hose back to the cooler and then locate the cooler from underne...

Re:May have found the problem

Yesterday I was going to check the hubs and clean off the sensors when I found the left front wheel sensor was loose. Apparently when I replaced it last winter a drop of mud fell into the bolt hole and prevented the bolt from tightening completely. I'll have to see if the car behaves for a few weeks...

2004 V70 OBD ABS pinouts ?

Has anyone deciphered the OBD pinouts so you can read the ABS codes with a VOM or get the check engine/ABS light to blink the ABS codes ?

Thanks

Greg
