OK, got the car back today after $1,106.11 bill was paid for evaporator/accumulator/hose replacement. My mechanic didn't charge to replace the heater core, blower motor, and thermostat besides. (I supplied the parts). Everything seems to be working. Only problem is, he put the steering wheel back on...

Ozark recommended changing the heater core at same time as evaporator. Does anyone know the cause of intermittent fan noise? Sounds a little like baseball cards in bicycle spokes. Comes and goes.

MIJ Thanks, you are right. I will do the PCV when the weather warms up, along with struts and shocks (car's just a little soft right now).
