Re: 2000 S80 2.9L Where should I start?
I may have to replace the front left ball joint soon, but as of right now thats not a priority. Control arms are in good shape. I had the privilege of using a snap-on car diagnostics tool today: http://www1.snapon.com/diagnostics/us/SOLUSUltra and found the following massive list of codes on top of ...

Re: 2000 S80 2.9L Where should I start?
The fuel system cleaning is offered at my work and is done using an additive.
I just started working at a tire place, so the Tires alignment and brakes will most likely get done at the same time.

2000 S80 2.9L Where should I start?

But here is where I am at with the car right now, and I will list the things I would like to do to the car. Hopefully someone can direct me to which problems I should work on firs...

Re: 2000 S80 Engine stalling, RPM fluctuation
The car starts, however after about 30 seconds of the idle rpm jumping between 400 and 1000 the car shuts down.537playing wrote:I wouldn't waste my time on the PVC trap until you get the car started.

Re: 2000 S80 Engine stalling, RPM fluctuation
The engine does start so im getting sparks, and I have a half tank of fuel. I will see about getting the pressure tested, as well as installing the new gasket.
Ill see if I trust myself doing a job as large as replacing the pcv in a parking lot with minimal tools.

Re: 2000 S80 Engine stalling, RPM fluctuation
I read somewhere earlier tonight that there are some hoses behind the ETM that can sometimes come undone, so I am going to check that and report back tomorrow. I didn't notice this at the time but searching for parts tonight I found a gasket for the ETM and when I removed mine there wasn't one. Coul...

Re: 2000 S80 Engine stalling, RPM fluctuation
UPDATE: So I checked the MAF with a multimeter, as well as tried running the car without it plugged in and nothing has changed. I did however decided to inspect the vacuum lines more thoroughly and discovered that one of the plugs was clogged with what appears to be either carbon or some sort of oil...

Re: 2000 S80 Engine stalling, RPM fluctuation
So I took apart my air intake today and inspected all pipes, hoses, and vacuum lines. However everything seemed intact. And the only pipe connecting the ETM with the MAF sensor was in great shape. Hes a picture of the entire pipe: http://i1343.photobucket.com/albums/o791/geoff_miles1/20140604_141018...

Re: 2000 S80 Engine stalling, RPM fluctuation
Oil vapor in the intake is normal from the operatin of the flame trap / PVC. The hose you taped is a pre-heat air hose off the exhaust and likely has nothing to do with this issue. Just helps the car warm up in cold weather. You have a vacuum leak, either through the evap system or elsewhere. Any a...
