Occasionally the bolt will come loose on the alternator drive gear. When it happens, you will hear a very loud whine and then the alternator will stop charging. It is not a difficult repair. Just remember to put locktite on the new bolt and torque it properly. I bought mine with 125000 miles on it. ...

Update. It turns out that when I replaced the air filter, the air tube came loose from the throttle body. The way that it is mounted, it was very difficult to see this. Re-attached the air tube and now it is running great. Changing the spark plugs certainly did help a lot, runs much better.
